Project Phases >>

The purpose of this phase is to examine alternative options available to meet the needs of the project and to determine a Preferred Option.

Stage 1 Preliminary Options Assessment

This stage established Study Areas and identified Constraints for each of the three Sections of the Project. The Study Areas and Constraints were presented to the public at consultation events held on the 6th December 2017.

Following this, feasible Options were developed for each Section and a Stage 1 assessment was undertaken to derive shortlisted options. All options were displayed at Public Consultation events which took place at Letterkenny, Lifford and Ballybofey on 17th, 18th and 19th April 2018 respectively. Due to the high level of public interest, further Public Consultation events were held at Ballybofey, Letterkenny and Lifford on the 29th, 30th and 31st May, respectively.

For details of the initial feasible and shortlisted options, please see the Documents/Downloads section of the website.

Stage 2 Project Appraisal of Options

The shortlisted options underwent a Project Appraisal to identify an Emerging Preferred Option Corridor for each Section of the Project. Emerging Preferred Option Corridors for each Section of the Project were displayed at Public Consultation events which took place at Lifford, Letterkenny and Ballybofey on 19th, 20th and 21st February 2019 respectively.

For details of the Emerging Preferred Option Corridors, please see the Documents/Downloads section of the website.

Stage 3 Selection of a Preferred Option Corridor
